My priority is to help honeybees. To accomplish this I would like to make beekeeping accessible to everyone, but not to the detriment of the honeybees, or style.
Bees for bees sake.
What you see here is what I call a HONEYBEE_cote' or BEECOTE'
Much like the grandeur of the past, a dovecote'
But the human experience has moved on, and so have the things we perceive to be rite.
Yes beekeeping was good for the Victorians as a machine to make and farm honey.
Now Gardeners Beehive with the BEECOTE' move backwards to a simpler time when beekeeping
was simpler before the mechanical revolution . Looking back to go forward but with new found
Inspired by VICTORIAN architectural style, but staying with the functionality and ethos of the GARDENERS BEEHIVE. Also taken from period drawings and sketches.
The Gardeners Beehive on which this is based and built, was derived from years of patient study of honeybees living in the wild. In the wilds of Africa, Europe, Cuba an even Essex!
Even with the Victorian exterior and romanticism, the functional ethics is far removed from the Victorian stance where man is master of his environment and everything must bend and bow to him. Existing Beekeeping is still based on this ideology. Even the equipment has not changed in 200 years! I do believe there probably is a place for honey production and farming, but this is not that.
Just a quick overview of what a Gardeners Beehive is and how it works. I have followed bees living in trees for years, from this I have tested aspects that make them successful, in many cases more so than any kept honey bees. Each aspect I have tested that has then shown to have positive results has then been Incorporated into my HONEYBEE BEEHIVE NEST BOX, the GARDENERS BEEHIVE. and like a bird box it is expected to be a safe haven for wild creatures to live and thrive. So much so that just as a bird box is expected to be self populating so is the GARDENERS BEEHIVE! This is one of many aspects that makes this quite unique.
But unlike a bird box where one would not expect meat or eggs, a dovecote' was intended to not only be a thing of beauty but also a thing of practicality supplying the house with meat and eggs. This was done without the need to farm the birds but rather to leave them up to their own devices, and merely provide a safe haven.
So to with the GARDENERS BEEHIVE. We provide a safe place for the honeybees and in return they provide much needed service of pollinating our gardens. But a number of years ago I encounter an anomaly, something strange.
From this I was able to build something that is completely unique in the world and not only in the beekeeping fraternity.
The Gardeners Beehive is the only self-regulating honey harvesting system. in the world
Thus so is what we have here the BEECOTE’
Now you to can have something of wonder and beauty in your garden, that will provide you with a harvest of guilt free honey, at the same time as providing a safe and natural haven for a colony of honey bees.
If you would like to find out more about how the Gardeners Beehive came into being, how it has evolved and how it now works.
Working with and in parallel with the natural quirks, wants and systems of honey bees.

The Gardeners beehive as an organisation, is intending to provide as many nests for bees as possible, with as many people as want, being involved.
The BEECOTE' is not that. It still has the beehosting ethic at it hart, but it is for a more discerning customer. If you have a lovely garden or a wonderful walled kitchen garden, as much as we love the standard Gardeners Beehive kit, it would be out of place in this setting.
For these locations I have created the BEECOTE' a thing of style, of Victorian elegance, that would take pride of place in any English Garden. There is only one problem though.
As this cannot be sent by courier, it is a personal delivered service only. This way I can spend a little time with you and or your gardeners, I can help with the selection of a location and well as set it up for you.
I will give an overview of how and why the Gardeners Beehive is and has come about as well as just how bees will be living in your hive.
This hive does not come with Bees, however there are a number of things that can be done to help improve your chances. Additionally I can provide a service where I can set up bait hives and once one gets bees I can transfer them across for you into your BEECOTE'.
This is a price for one day, including time to drive to you and back home. If there are other requirements or if I need to stay over this can then be discussed and it is not a problem at all to add this cost on.

Something exiting I am working on is an integrated honey box sliding gate. This will have three functions. it can seal off the hive from the honey box of allow access for the bees to the honey box, but then it also incorporates a bee escape to allow the honey box to be evacuated of bees. So to allow removal of the honey box with no bees inside.
